Memphis
Jess picked up some moonlighting shifts in West Memphis.  She worked 2pm - 10pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.  The girls and I went with her and stayed at a hotel in Memphis.  We went up on Thursday night and came home on Monday night.  In the meantime, we had a good time visiting the local sites.
On Friday, we did a little grocery shopping and got some snacks together.  After figuring out the way to the hospital where Jess was working, I took the girls to the Children's Museum of Memphis.  And because we are members of the Little Rock Children's museum, we got in free of charge.  Gotta love that!
Sydney played in the water exhibit.
And then in the Kroger grocery shopping store.
Laynie loved when Sydney played in the exhibit that demonstrated the inner workings of things inside our house.
We did some crafts in the recycling room.
Sydney climbed all the way to the top of the maze.  Then Laynie wanted to join, so we climbed up the stairs and met Sydney.
On Saturday, we went to the Pink Palace Museum.  We watched a planatarium movie about the stars.  It was geared toward children, so Sydney enjoyed it.  After the movie, we walked through the museum.  There is a huge dinosaur exhibit and Sydney was in heaven.
There are also a lot of wildlife exhibits.  Sydney wanted this picture with an armadillo.  LOL!
This was pretty cool.  A replica of the very first Piggly Wiggly.  After all, the actual Pink Palace is the mansion adjacent to the museum.  And the original owner of the mansion was the man who opened the very first Piggly Wiggly.
On Sunday, we went to the Memphis Zoo.  Unfortunately, several animal enclosures were closed because they are seasonal.  But there were enough animals to see to make the girls happy.
The monkeys were entertaining.  See the monkey way up on top of the tall, tall pole?  I don't know how he got down.  LOL  And the monkey on the right found a blanket and kept hiding under it.
The sea lions loved to swim right up to the tank window and quickly veer away.  Sydney loved it too.
The panda was just hangin' around.
Sydney wasn't so sure about this giant catepillar.
Later on, I found a little park.  So the girls and I played there for a while before we went back to the hotel room.  The sun was shining and it was beautiful weather.  We all had fun.
After dinner, Sydney donned one of the masks she got in her dino kit (from the Pink Palace) and tried to scare Laynie.  As you can see, she wasn't scared at all.  LOL!!!
On Monday, I took the girls to an indoor playground at the mall and to Chili's (at Sydney's request) for lunch.  Bought a membership at Costco and did some shopping.  We picked up Jess from work and made it home by about 10pm.
